The league has been the talk of the town of late, and recently Rickie Fowler was announced to be a part of it. The golf pro of course is still awaiting his first major victory, and that has many wondering if he’s the only player on their roster without one. And if not, who are the rest? Well, let’s explore that in detail.

The TGL players besides Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler just recently announced his association with the TGL, the simulator golf league. But he is certainly not the first player to join the league. In fact, the golf pro actually filled the 12th spot on the 18-person roster. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are two more names on the playing roster of the TGL. The two aren’t just the founders of the high-tech golf league, but will also be playing in its inaugural season next year. Being the two who started the league, they were the first two players on the player list and just their names and influence were enough to quickly start drawing more to them. Both of course have multiple major championships to their name, with 19 in total.

One of the first few others to follow the golf legend was his close friend, Justin Thomas. The 15-time PGA Tour winner has on multiple occasions pledged his loyalty to the Tour. And he cemented those words when he announced his spot in the tour-exclusive high-tech league. JT has 2 majors to his name and is currently even the reigning champion of the PGA Championship.

Jon Rahm, who is currently one of the top three players in the world, too, joined Woods’ new league soon after its announcement. And with his exploding fan base, he will certainly bring a lot of viewership to the simulation league. Rahm won the US Open in 2020 making it his one and only major currently.

Collin Morikawa and Adam Scott, the PGA Tour youngster and the experienced veteran, were the fifth and sixth additions to the TGL’s players. Late in January of this year, the two confirmed that they would be competing in the 18-hole VR league. Both have majors to their name, with Scott’s coming at the 2013 Masters, and Morikawa’s 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 Open Championship wins.

Soon after, the two Matt Fitzpatrick followed in their footsteps. The English golf great has been remarkable of late, and his announcement to join the TGL’s ranks brought a lot more attention to the league. In 2022 he won the US Open by a stroke and it stands to be his only major win. Surprisingly it is also his only PGA Tour win!

Twitter’s funny guy, Max Homa, who in recent times has proven himself to be a strong competitor for the topmost ranks of the Tour, is also a part of the tech-based golf league. He and Billy Horschel committed to the 18-player primetime league early in February this year. Although they have proved their worth on the Tour, they’re yet to take home any majors. The two join Fowler as players who are yet to win a major championship in their career.

A week after the two American stars took their places in TGL’s Ranks, Justin Rose, the 11-time PGA Tour winner, too declared that he would be joining the Tour’s top players in the simulator golf league. His commitment made him the second Englishman in the ranks. Rose avoided joining Fowler and the other two as non-major winners since he won the 2013 US Open. That stands to be his only major win to date.

Before Fowler, Xander Schauffele was the last player to have signed with TGL soon after Rose. The American star refused to miss out on the opportunity to grow the game. And in February this year, he pledged his allegiance. With seven Tour victories, he is certainly eager to do his part and help the game’s advancement. But unfortunately, none of those seven wins are major. Making Schauffele the fifth player of the currently confirmed 12 without a major.

Put simply, the TGL is a high-tech golf league. The series will feature six different teams, comprising three players each. The teams will go on to battle it out over 15 weeks, every Monday evening. Each match will be played over 18 holes and on a simulator, and there will be a 15-match regular season followed by playoffs and a final championship match.

The TGL has partnered with the PGA Tour for this new virtual league, making it a tour-exclusive league. This means that all the players on its roster will be from the Tour alone. And unfortunately, fans won’t see any LIV golfers participate. With prizes and rewards for the winning players, the high-tech league promises to give fans a drama-filled and exciting Monday evening. And it will begin early in 2024.
