Since his debut, Phil Mickelson has been one of the leading names in golf. Over the years, the Californian player has built on an aura that remains untouched by the majority of the pro players. However, as one says, with great power comes great responsibility. Even though he has been enjoying his colossal fame in the golf world for a long time, his LIV Golf deal has shown massive signs of damage to that fame.
Ever since joining the Saudi Arabia-backed league, Mickelson has been the center of controversies. The PGA Tour legend, who once was one of the most loved players on the tour, has today become one of the most criticized players of the sport. Phil Mickelson becomes a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame
As mentioned earlier, Mickelson is one of the leading names in the game of golf. Scrolling through the stats, the 52-year-old has a total of 57 professional wins to his name, 6 of which are major championships. Digging deeper into his wins, the majority of them came before the year 2012. A feat, that helped Mickelson be inducted into the 2012 class of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

A decade since then, Mickelson is now a part of LIV Golf. As per reports, the Lefty signed a whopping $200 million contract with LIV, becoming the highest-paid golfer in a current lot of LIV players. However, despite his move to the Saudi Arabia-backed league, he continues to be a part of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Months earlier, in June 2022, renowned golf analyst Brandel Chamblee took to his social media handle, asking for the removal of Phil Mickelson from the elite list. As per the social media post, Chamblee accused Phil Mickelson and Greg Norman (former golfer, now the CEO of LIV Golf) of dishonoring the game and threatening to destroy it. Thus, the golf world is quite divided.

Considering the aura of Mickelson, the post took no time to ignite social media banter in the golf world. While one section of the golfing community backed Chamblee’s proposal, another section took no time to express their disapproval for the same. However, four months after the social media post, the governing bodies are yet to come up with a decision about LIV Golfers being part of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
