The 2024 CPKC Women’s Open is set to take place from July 23–28 at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta. But the greens of the Earl Grey Golf Club are going to miss one particular player in the tournament. The World No. 1 Nelly Korda has decided not to compete in the tournament. As per the playing field of the event that has been released, Korda’s name is not there, and the reasons could be many for her absence.

With the most common reason for any golfer to not compete or withdraw from any game being an injury, fans were relieved to know that wasn’t the case with Korda. After a stunning Croatian vacation, the golfer returned to the States and was treated to the warmest welcome of all, a cuddle! In a heartwarming display of love and connection, the 2x major winner was seen cuddling her nephew, Greyson John Delprete in an Instagram story posted by her sister Jessica Korda.

The roaring golfer on the greens, we all know, is also a loving aunt. In the story, the golfer was surrounded by toys and snuggled up on a cozy blanket with the caption, “Mornings with Auntie are the best.” Well, Aunt Korda in her element is definitely a sight for a sore eye. And the fans are sure their favorite golfer is recharging her batteries for the ultimate showdown!

The 2024 Paris Olympics are just around the corner, kicking off on July 16th. However, golf lovers will have to wait until August 1st to witness the male golfers and August 7th to cheer on the female golfers to bring home the medal. That’s not all; Korda’s calendar is also marked for the AIG Women’s Open, the final major of the season, which takes place between August 22 and 25. One The golfer desperately needs to add a win to her name after several poor performances in the 2024 season, despite starting her season beautifully.

Nelly Korda’s tough performances in the 2024 season

5 consecutive wins! That’s what Nelly Korda achieved this year. What a spectacular run it was! However, it all started going downhill for her after she won the 2024 Mizuho America’s Open. She scored 14 under 274 to secure the whopping prize purse of $450,000. Then, the 25-year-old golfer missed the cut back to back in the next three tournaments after that, with the first being the Meijer LPGA Classic, where she scored one under 143. And then came the worst part: she missed the cut in the two important majors, the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open.

Talk about a tough start! In the first round of the US Women’s Open, Korda made a score of septuple-bogey on a par-3 12th and missed the cut at the score over 10 over 150. The 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship saw the golfer struggle with a score of 6 over 150, which led her to miss the cut. Her last appearance was in the Amundi Evian Championship, where she secured the position at T26. Although Korda didn’t play her best in this tournament either, she showed signs of improvement.
