The 88th Masters Tournament is just around the corner! Every golfer on the field will undoubtedly be gearing up to the best of their abilities to wear the Green Jacket on Sunday, April 14. But unfortunately, Min Woo Lee could have hoped for a better week leading up to the first major of 2024. The reason? Well, the golfer had suffered an injury to his hand the previous weekend.

A tweet was shared by Dan Rapaport just hours ago on his X handle, divulging the details of the same. Interestingly, the post also mentions how, despite the Australian professional breaking his right ring finger 10 days ago, he was able to recover enough to appear in the upcoming major at Augusta National!

Lee appears to have suffered an injury as a result of dropping a 20-pound dumbbell on it during his final rep of a glute exercise at the gym on March 30. This, sadly, led to a broken “right ring finger.” Regardless, the 25-year-old’s recovery has been nothing short of “miraculous,”  allowing him to play nine holes on Tuesday pain-free.

Recounting the unlucky situation, the Aussie said, “I went to the doctor, and I thought it was OK because I could move it,” before adding how he initially thought everything would end up fine. “It was just red. I thought it would be fine,” pondered the pro back then, after which they came in and dropped the bomb. “‘You’ve broken it.'”

Meanwhile, the 3-time DP World Tour champion shared his concerns about disclosing it to his fans. Elaborating on the same, he disclosed how there was a lot of anxiety regarding sharing it with the public: “We didn’t know as a team to tell or to not, and I felt like I should tell people because there was a lot of the pressure on me, I guess, playing well.”

However, the injury apparently wasn’t enough to dampen his fighting spirit, as Min Woo Lee confessed how he still worked out in the following days despite the misfortune. “I still went to the gym last week as much as I could,” recalled the golfer as he said, “Obviously didn’t do that exercise. Every time I looked at that 20-pound dumbbell, yeah, gave it a death stare.” Anyhow, the Aussie wouldn’t want to miss out on his third appearance at the 2024 Masters for the world.

Min Woo Lee and his history at the Masters Tournament

After turning pro in 2019, the Australian pro made his debut at Augusta National back in 2022 when he finished a T-14 tied with eight other golfers, including Matt Fitzpatrick, Talor Gooch, and Hideki Matsuyama, among others. Fascinatingly, he did so owing to a final-round 2-under 70, which also included a record-tying 30 on the first nine.

However, come 2023, Min Woo Lee wasn’t able to replicate his gameplay on the greens at the Masters. Unfortunately, he failed to make the cut at the event, which saw Jon Rahm go ahead and emerge victorious on Sunday. Well, this time around, Lee, along with his fans, would be hoping for a better finish than last year despite injuring his right ring finger.
