Madelene Sagström moved up the leaderboard at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship on Friday. However, for Jack Clarke, her boyfriend and a professional caddie, it was a disappointing week at Palos Verdes. His current employer, also another Swedish Solheim Cupper, missed the cut on Friday.
Clarke and Sagström have been together for the last six years. There was a time when they were partners inside the ropes as well. But have they tied the knot, or do they plan to get married anytime soon?

Per Golfweek, Madelene Sagström and Jack Clarke first met at the UL International Crown in 2018. They started dating shortly after that. Although they are not yet married, Sagström has hinted that they might tie the knot this year. Sharing a picture with her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day, the 2023 Solheim Cup winner wrote on her Instagram post, “My forever valentine @jackclarkegolf ❤️ 2024 is going to be the most amazing year for us. I can’t wait!”

Clarke was a professional golfer himself. Only recently did he shift his focus to caddying. In fact, Clarke looped for Sagström before moving elsewhere. After caddying for LPGA Pros, he was on the bag for Swedish sensation Ludvig Aberg. It was for that reason that Aberg traveled to Finca Cortesin to cheer for the European Solheim Cup team.
At the Grant Thornton Invitational, where Sagström paired up with Aberg, she revealed that this would be the last tournament with Clarke on Aberg’s bag. She also shared that her fiance doesn’t intend to take up a new caddying job anytime soon. However, Clarke eventually teamed up with Anna Nordqvist last month.
Nordqvist missed the cut at the Fir Seri Hills Pak Championship. Interestingly, four years ago, Clarke was waiting anxiously outside the ropes while Sagström was climbing up the leaderboard. That time, Clarke’s father was also with Sagström on the greens.
When Sagström’s would-be in-law caddied for her
At the 2020 Gainbridge LPGA, Sagström was on the greens with her would-be father-in-law. Her regular caddie, David Buhai, who is the husband of Ashleigh Buhai, Sagström’s LPGA colleague, was in Florida on vacation. And, since her boyfriend was looping for Caroline Hedwall, he couldn’t be on her bag. So the 2023 Solheim Cup winner roped in Jack’s father, Alan. Madelene Sagström scored her first stateside win at Boca Rico. Her 8-footer rolled nicely into the hole at the 72nd hole to seal her maiden LPGA victory.

“Who could imagine this?” exclaimed Alan after Sagström pocketed the $300,000 winner’s payout. But the veteran’s main job, other than double-checking the card, was “keeping her free and easy,” Jack said after the round. That was the first and last time, though. Alan ‘retired’ from his caddying job after that.
