Yes, the 2014 Chevron Championship winner is set to make her return to this year’s tournament. The 29-year-old golfer stunned the golfing world 10 years ago when she won the championship, her first major title. 19-year-old Thompson became the second-youngest women’s major winner at the time, behind only Morgan Pressel, who had won the same competition in 2007 at 18 years old. After Ko, broke Pressel’s second, Thompson became the third youngest major winner of modern LPGA major.

Her past few performances at the championship have been rather inconsistent. In 2020, she placed a strong 4th, only two strokes behind the leader. The following year was way worse. Despite a strong -4 in the final round, she placed T36. 2022 provided a return to form, with another strong 4th place finish with a score of 10-under overall.

However, last year was the worst of the four! After carding 2 over on Thursday and Friday, the LPGA pro did not make it to the weekend. If this shows a pattern, then there is a chance that she might have a strong finish this year, maybe even win the game for the second time. But with the kind of year the golfer has had, will she be able to, though? After all, in the field with her will be Nelly Korda, who is on a winning streak with four consecutive wins.

Is Thompson ready to take on the 2024 Chevron Championship?

The eleven-time LPGA Tour winner hopes to win her second major title this weekend. Thompson has had a strong start to the 2024 campaign and has shown good form. She started the year with the LPGA Drive-On Championship, wherein she finished at T16 with 282 on the leaderboard. After missing the cut at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship, she recovered as she finished T3 in the Ford Championship presented by KCC, three strokes behind Korda, with a score of 17-under 271.
