“It’s just management until I can figure out exactly what maybe solves the problem,” said Jordan Spieth about his injury almost 3 months ago. And it seems has now found a solution for the “come-and-go thing,” that has been troubling him for over a year now. But does that mean that the golfer will be on a break from the Tour? Not really! This solution may reshape his career, especially after the kind of season he has had. Spieth’s performance has been erratic even though he had one of his best driving years.

The golfer is well known for his ability to deliver in the crunch moments, however, he has been troubled by an ulnar nerve injury in his left wrist since the 2023 PGA Championship. This tendon often slips out of place and often does so during the normal functioning of the body. While it may not be painful during a game, the injury has affected him a lot. He was almost on the verge of withdrawing from the RBC Heritage after the first round, but he fought through the pain, only to finish T39.

Jordan Spieth in a pre-tournament press conference of the Wyndham Championship said, “It’s been a frustrating year because it’s been maybe my best driving year ever, but the clubs that I make the most impact into the ground with, which are normally my bread and butter, have been pretty off”. It appears that medical help is the only solution, intending to bring Spieth back to his best.

Jordan Spieth is not discouraged and continues to look forward to the future. He has visited many doctors and has had many scans in an attempt to fix the problem. The 31-year-old American golfer continued saying “I’ve been taking trips out as well as being in contact with a lot of doctors, getting it scanned again and trying to figure out what the next move is.”

It is probably said that surgery will be done during the off-season, and Spieth is also hopeful about the same as he said “Probably going to have to do something about it this offseason.” This way, he will not have to take a break from the greens. The golfer proudly added that he has another 10 to 15 years of good golf left in him and is eager to regain his form. But the question that arises is how has this injury impacted his current season.

Injury’s impact on Jordan Spieth’s performance and FedExCup standings

Jordan Spieth has been struggling this season and has not recorded in any of the top-10 finishes and has also dropped in the FedExCup rankings. This can be attributed to his wrist injury. His driving has been excellent, ranking 14th in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee. But his iron play has declined, ranking 116th in Strokes Gained: Approach.

As we are aware Jordan Spieth started the season on a good note with a T3 at The Sentry and a T6 at the WM Phoenix Open but his performance dropped. His performance then went downhill and he could not challenge his opponents even in the major championships. His last good performance was a T10 at the Valero Texas Open in April. Since then, he only has one top-25 finish, T25 at The Open Championship.

Jordan Spieth’s objective is to advance his FedExCup standing at the Wyndham Championship, to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs. He added, “My goal this week is to try to move up as far as I can in the FedExCup and head into the Playoffs on a high note”.

As he gets ready for a possible surgery in the off-season, he hopes to finish the present season on a good note. Will Jordan Spieth be able to come back and get back to the top of the golfing world again?
