South Korean golfer Jin Young Ko, needs no introduction. Her immaculate achievements that she has accomplished in a small time shines brightly on her career graph. The 2019 Chevron Championship winner is one of the best players in women’s golf.

And with one of the five major LPGA Tour tournaments, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, approaching next week a big question that lurk is whether ace player Jin Young Ko is playing at the event.

Does Jin Young Ko meet the criteria for qualifying at the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship?

The 27 years old is an overachiever in her own right. She was an early bird in the sports and turned professional at the age of 18 in 2013. During her decade long career, she has won 15 LPGA Tour events, 1 European Tour event, and has won 12 times at the LPGA of Korea Tour. In 2022 she was on the Forbes list as one of the highest-paid female athletes. But there is a list of criteria that need to be fulfilled to qualify for playing at the KPMG Women’s tournament and Kim meets quite a few of them.

The first and most important criterion is that the player be an LPGA Tour member, which she is. Another being she has won an LPGA Major Championship in the previous five years. Thirdly she is ranked no. 1 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. A couple of days ago the official website of KPMG released a list of 155 players who will be competing at the event surely Jin Young Ko’s name was on that list. Jin Young will be representing her maiden country the Republic of Korea, at the event.

Recent success streak and reclaiming her Word No. 1 position

Lately, her luck and hard work have taken her to even greater heights. Last month she beat Nelly Korda at the LPGA Women’s World Championship by 2 strokes. After that, she reclaimed the world’s No. 1 spot after winning her attempt at the Cognizant Founders Cup. Surely these high-profile achievements must have worked as a great morale booster for Young Ko.
