Golf fans are extremely excited to watch their favorite players competing at the upcoming Masters Tournament next month. However, numerous players have still not confirmed if they are going to make an appearance at the event this year. And after the huge LIV Golf transition, golf enthusiasts are not sure if Bubba Watson is going to make an appearance this year!

Will fans see Bubba Watson at the 2023 Masters?

Bubba Watson had a pretty unique approach toward joining LIV Golf. Unlike other professionals, his decision had nothing to do with the handsome offer! During his pre-tournament press conference at the PIF Saudi International, the golfer explained how his son played a major role in his LIV Golf decision.

According to Watson, his son never really liked watching golf until he became an ‘Aces’ fan. And that’s what motivated him to join in and made him feel that “LIV has a niche, it has a reason.” But joining LIV Golf cost the player a huge fanbase that he had on the PGA Tour. Moreover, it also lowered the chances of him playing at any major tournaments in the future.

Luckily, the Augusta National Golf Club announced that they were going to allow eligible LIV Golf players to appear at the Masters. And it was nothing less than a second chance for 18 LIV golfers, including Bubba Watson. Noticeably, his current position on the OWGR leaderboard is nowhere near the top 50 players. But having won the title twice in his career, the golfer has earned his invite to the tournament. However, there is still no statement from him about his plans to appear on the field!

Following his decision to join the breakaway circuit, Watson also made some shocking revelations about the PGA Tour. As per his statements, the tour paid him guaranteed appearance moneybehind closed doors’, which is definitely against the rules! He mentioned that his earning money on the PGA Tour had nothing to do with him making the cut! “I miss the cut, I still make money. I make the cut, I make extra money,” he said.

However, the PGA Tour denied any truth in Watson’s statements. In fact, they mentioned that the tour “prohibits the payment of appearance money to players”. But he was not the only one who made such statements about the tour. Notably, many other professionals including Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Dustin Johnson also took multiple shots at the American League.
