Where has Bryson DeChambeau been with the US Open trophy? The simple answer is everywhere. Whenever people see the 2024 US Open champion, he is often accompanied by the 18-inch silver trophy. With DeChambeau carrying the trophy everywhere, how long can he keep it? And are there any limitations on where he can take it? Let’s find out!

It all began when he secured the victory with an epic bunker shot on No. 18, finishing at 6-under against Rory McIlroy. After claiming the title, he celebrated his win with Golf Channel legend Johnson Wagner and playfully handed the trophy to him. The celebration continued on Sunday night as DeChambeau walked the trophy around the course at Pinehurst, allowing fans to take pictures with it. The next day, on Monday, he attended the “Today Show” with the silver trophy.

Later that day, the golfer visited Westchester Golf Club in New York and enjoyed wine from the trophy with Eric Trump. At Night, DeChambeau appeared on “The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon.” During the show, he brought the trophy into the audience and allowed audience members to hold it. Most recently, the golfer was casually moving around downtown Nashville and meeting the fans, and guess what? He was carrying his silver trophy in his hand.

While carrying the trophy everywhere he goes, Bryson DeChambeau is only allowed to keep it for up to one year. Players must return the trophy to the USGA by the week of the following year’s US Open tournament, as per USGA rules. There are no restrictions, and winners can take the trophy wherever they wish. If the defending champion wins the title again the next year, they can keep the trophy for another year under the same rules. Speaking of returning the trophy, one golfer was unable to do so in the past due to a tragedy.

It dates back to the 1946 US Open, when Lloyd Mangrum won the prestigious tournament. Later, the golfer displayed it in the clubhouse of his home course, Tam O’Shanter, outside Chicago. However, suddenly, a fire broke out and destroyed the original trophy. After witnessing, initially, the USGA was planning to make a brand new one with a new design. But they ultimately decided to keep the original design by the Gorham Company.

Although the current 18-inch-tall trophy dates back to 1947, it retains the same design as the original from 1946. Since then, this trophy has been a symbol of the long history of the tournament and aligns with the championship’s core values. It demands a lot out of the golfer to claim the title. Considering that, it makes sense for Bryson DeChambeau to flex the trophy everywhere he can. What do you think about DeChambeau and his actions? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
