Ruoning Yin, the Chinese professional golfer, just recently made headlines for winning the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. In her maiden major, the 20-year-old from Shanghai shot a four-under-par 67 in the final round, winning by one stroke, for which she took home a $1.5 Million prize. And now the youngster is back for more!

Yin became only the second woman from China to win a major title after Feng Shanshan in 2012, and it seems like she’s not looking to double down on that. The champion is speculating about her odds at the Amundi Evian Championship. In a recent interview, she even opened up about how she perceives the fast-approaching major and about her game’s transition since her major win a month ago!

One stroke at a time, Ruoning Yin is onto the next championship

The Amundi Evian Championship is scheduled for this Thursday, July 27. It will take place at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France. The 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Champion will play at the event, too, and in a recent interview, the Chinese star shared her thoughts about the upcoming championship.

When asked about her preparations for the major, Yin replied, “I only play nine holes, so I haven’t seen all the course yet, but I found out it’s a very challenging course, and it’s obviously a ball-striking course, and especially for the approach shot, you have to be at a good spot, like the right spot.”

The Amundi Evian Championship is known for its difficult course and challenging conditions, and Yin reveals that while playing at the course, missing a shot when you absolutely should not could lead to some major trouble. The fact that she’s playing the event for the first time is undoubtedly keeping the youngster on her toes, despite her immense skill!

However, even while exercising caution, the golfer is confident about her game and form. She stated that she wished to bring with her the same stunning ball-striking skill that she displayed at the Women’s PGA Championship into this week. And if she is to stand a chance against the ever-competitive field of the Evian Championship, she certainly will need to!

Yin’s top competition at the Amundi Evian Championship 2023?

Along with Ruoning Yin, players will hail from 39 countries. And the winners of two other majors this year—Lilia Vu, who won The Chevron Championship, and Allisen Corpuz, who took home the victory at the US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach—will also join Yin in France.

All three of them grabbed their first major win this year and will undoubtedly be looking to double that this week. Defending champion Brooke Henderson, who won by one shot last year, will also be present at the French course and will be looking to defend her title.

Amid the heavy competition, however, Ruoning Yin is unquestionably looking forward to giving her best at the major.
