Can Charley Hull bounce back stronger, or is this injury a major blow to her career?

Charley Hull‘s participation in the season’s next major is in jeopardy. The 28-year-old golfer recently competed in the Aramco Team Series event, a distinctive professional golf series with five tournaments held worldwide annually. However, Hull is unable to continue further just after playing six holes. Why’s that? Well, because of an unfortunate illness.

Recently @pcaseysafc shared a post on X, captioning “England’s Charley Hull has retired due to illness after 6 six holes of Aramco Team Series event in Hemel Hempstead .” While replying to that another post from @KaufmanRichard revealed that her withdrawal was due to an illness and they are expecting it to be an injury.

They further pointed out that the 29-year-old had to take withdrawal because her physio advised her not to play. Although the specifics of her injury haven’t been reported, it could risk her participation in the Amundi Evian Championship, which begins on July 11th. Hull has played in most events in 2024, except for the Ford Championship. In March, she withdrew from the championship, citing the same issue, which she referred to as an illness. Could it be that the same illness is back to haunt the golfer again? It could be, but it will become more clear as the details will come to light.

Recently at the Dow Championship, Charley Hull finished stunningly at T5 with a total of 262 18-under par. Earlier during the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, the golfer delivered an ideal performance, finishing at T16 with a total of 289 1-over-par. Is this the first time her major appearance is at risk due to an injury? Well, no! In the past, the 29-year-old has struggled with a neck injury too, that also caused a scare in the golf world.

Charley Hull was struggling at the Solheim Cup

In the 2023 Solheim Cup, Charley Hull represented Team Europe and was one of the hottest golfers, having secured runner-up finishes in both the US Women’s Open and the Women’s British Open. Before the match against Team USA, the 29-year-old reported a neck sprain.

This was a significant concern for the European team, considering Hull’s excellent form. However, she assured that it was only a matter of time before she recovered: “Yeah, I sprained it [the neck]. It feels a bit sore… I only played nine holes today but should be good by Friday. I’m swinging it at like 80% at the moment, but I’m swinging it good considering,” Hull said, according to Golf Magic. While she played at the Solheim Cup despite the struggles, an injury in the same year forced Charley Hull to withdraw from an important tournament.

In May, during the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown, Charley Hull and Georgia Hall made last-minute withdrawals. Hall cited a foot injury, while Hull’s withdrawal was due to an illness. This was a significant setback for Team England. Later, both of them were replaced by Alice Hewson and Liz Young.

Do you think this illness will stop Charley Hull from playing at the Amundi Evian Championship? We hope not as she deserves to win the major after all the close calls! Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
