Can Lexi Thompson bounce back stronger after her injury break, or is this a career setback?

Lexi Thompson announced ending her full-time professional career after the 2024 season of the LPGA Tour. Speaking at the US Women’s Open, she emphasized her longstanding dedication to the sport, which has profoundly shaped her life over the course of a decade. The outcome, although, can vary, sometimes resulting in negativity and other times in positivity. Nonetheless, being a golfer has always been her favorite thing.

She said, “I’m so blessed and grateful for the family I have. I’m just very blessed for the family I have … Just to have my family and friends and the amount of fans that were out there this week, that’s what we want.” The 29-year-old golfer appeared at the Pinnacle Country Club last weekend, finishing at T15 with a 7-under. But it looks like she will be taking a break for a few days after that.

Lexi Thompson took to her official Instagram account a few hours ago and shared a few pictures of herself from the NW Arkansas Championship. She thanked her sponsors and followers for making her final professional appearance unforgettable. “The support behind this event is incredible, and I was happy to make it back and play in front of the crowds,” added the LPGA Tour Pro.

September has been a rather hectic month for all the players. Starting from the Solheim Cup in the second week, where she played for Team USA and came out victorious. The win was followed by the Kroger Queen City Championship in the third week and then the $3 million tournament at the Pinnacle Country Club.

The last one being her third consecutive week playing important matches. However, turns out that this schedule was pretty rough on her hand. That is why she has decided to take some time off the course. Expecting to come back with a bang, she concluded, “So I’m happy to have these next 4-5 weeks off to get some rest, make sure I’m 100% to finish the year and put in the work as usual”.

After exactly a month is the TOTO Japan Classic at the Seta Golf Course, from October 31 to November 3. This will give her enough time to recover from her painful hand injury and get back to her pre-injury swing. And well, even if she does not come back by the end of next month, she will still have three more championships awaiting in November.

If things go as planned, the NW Arkansas Championship will not be her last performance. Do you think Lexi Thompson will come back to play on the Tour? Or was last week the last time her fans saw her play professional golf? Let us know in the comments below!
