Pat Perez is often an exhilarating character in an otherwise muted golf field. The 47-year-old has often found himself in hot waters due to his actions on and off the course. But it seems like the LIV golfer has found his perfect match already.

Meet Ashley Perez, the better half of our precious golfer. The couple took their oaths on New Year’s Eve in 2015 and parent two children. But just like her husband, Ashley has stirred the controversy pot more than a few times.

If reports are to be believed, Ashley Perez is a professional inventive engineer and designer. But she is more famous around here as the wife of celebrity golfer Pat Perez, who has hit the jackpot with the LIV Golf Series.

Indeed, the Arizona State University alum switched to the breakaway league at its inception, which drew flak from several traditionalists worldwide. Among the very few backers was his wife Ashley, who, during an Instagram live session, condemned those who spoke ill of her husband.

Kudos to the Perez family to stick through thick and thin. By the end of LIV Golf’s inaugural season, Perez, a member of the successful ‘4 Aces’ franchise, won over $8 Million in prize money.

To put that in context, Perez earned $28,830,160 over the course of 515 events in a 25-year career. Indeed, the LIV Golf Series turned into a six-month hurrah for the veteran golfer, who pocketed nearly one-third of his career earnings within the short span of time.

Being a golf aficionado herself, Mrs. Perez was sighted at most of her husband’s games. But her presence has been a cause of controversy too, most notably during an alleged incident mentioned in Alan Shipnuck’s infamous book, ‘PHIL: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar’.

Ashley Perez’s controversial moments within the golf space

Due to her constant presence on the course, Ashley must be on speaking terms with a number of Pat’s compatriots. Therefore, it seems natural that the couple was invited to dinner by golfer Phil Mickelson, which allegedly turned ugly.

The incident was forwarded in a new afterword in Alan Shipnuck’s controversial book, which has been repeatedly discredited by Mickelson himself. According to it, the six-time major championship winner had asked out the Perez couple for dinner in New Jersey back in 2015.

While everyone was merry at the dinner table, the matter unraveled after Mr. Perez excused himself to use the restroom. Mickelson then whipped out his phone and allegedly showed his guest a photograph of himself that she found offensive, according to the contents of the book.

The information was revealed to the public many years ago, but it fits the bill for Perez’s unexplained rage toward Mickelson. On a podcast with swing coach Claude Harmon, the 47-year-old had claimed his unimaginable detest towards his now-LIV Golf pioneer.

“When it comes to Phil, I have a different hate for Phil than most people,” Perez said, adding, “Phil crossed the line with me that is just uncrossable and unforgivable.” While he didn’t reveal what caused him such a great deal of pain, the seasoned golfer revealed how Mickelson felt after his actions. “He knows that he screwed up. He apologized for the action, but I cannot forgive him for it because I’ve known Phil for a long, long time.”

In a separate event, Ashley Perez endured the criticism of the majority of golf fans after her unapologetic comment on fifteen-time major championship winner, Tiger Woods. This was during the golfer’s unfortunate accident in February 2021, where a car crash left the 47-year-old in dire conditions.

But that wasn’t a cause of concern for the mother of two. She hopped onto the popular social media app Instagram, where she jotted down her thoughts on a golf post. It read, “Literally why driving under the influence is ILLEGAL. I don’t feel bad for him. Thank god he didn’t kill anyone. See ya.”

While the comment was deleted soon, it caught the ire of fans all over the world. Indeed, Perez has an able ally in his wife, with the two proving to be an insatiable combo together.
