New Zealand-based professional golfer Danny Lee has surprised the world with an amazing victory at the LIV Golf Tucson. For everyone who is not aware, this was the golfer’s first win in the last 8 years of his golfing career. However, despite this being one of his happiest moments, fans are not letting him slide so easily. It was after a video of the golfer went viral on Twitter, and fans brought along a wave of accusations about his final putt.
Fans react to the alleged anchored putt of Danny Lee
Lee, 32, recently won the hearts of all LIV Golf fans with his unexpected victory at the league’s most recent event. The golfer hasn’t been able to taste success in a long time until now. It was only last month that he joined the Saudi league. But as it appears, this might be one of the best decisions of his life!

The golfer was easily able to claim his victory with a spectacular 25ft birdie at the third play-off hole while he stood tied with Carlos Ortiz, Brendan Steele, and Louis Oosthuizen. However, winning a four-man playoff was nothing new for the golf star. “Last win I had was also a four-man play-off,” he mentioned. “Maybe it was a coincidence, I don’t know. But it feels pretty amazing right now.”
Danny Lee became the youngest US Am champ in ‘08, beating Tiger’s record by 6 months. Then became the youngest winner on the European Tour and 2nd ever amateur by winning the Johnnie Walker in ‘09. However, even though he won the tournament in his own unique style, fans had other concerns. When the video of the player hitting the final putt was posted on Twitter, several pages shared it for golf fans. And as it was clearly seen, several golf enthusiasts got together to call out Lee for anchoring his putt!

For those who don’t know, an anchored putt is when a player intentionally holds a forearm in contact using any other body part while making the putt. Golfers usually do it to make sure that the putt is stable. But as of now, it is banned under the Rules of Golf. And the fact that no one pointed it out even after his win, is what got the nerves of the fans. Here’s how some of them reacted:
Anchored but its only an exhibition so who cares

Do they allow anchoring on LIV? May as well. Didn’t see much daylight between that shirt and the putter.

Now all he needs to do is stop anchoring the damn putter, and we’ll start liking him.

Sure looks like he anchored the broom stick. But then again… anything goes on LIV.
