Phil Mickelson holds a significant influence over golf professionals as well as fans. Anything that the six-time major champion says or writes on social media becomes news in no time. Fans heavily scrutinized the golfer after he made scathing comments about the PGA Tour last year, claiming that LIV Golf is here to stay. But despite all the controversies, the golf legend has made it to the headlines yet again. In fact, this time, ‘Lefty’ is trying to be more sarcastic than ever!

Mickelson shows support towards LIV Golf by allegedly firing shots at the PGA Tour

Besides being one of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour, the 2023 Masters Tournament was special for a ton of reasons. However, unlike any of the previous years, the event received a massive boost this time due to the LIV Golf vs PGA Tour squabble. And believe it or not, it is a never-ending issue from where the fans see it. But despite the entire tour vs tour situation, professional golfers in both leagues have highly benefited from it. A huge amount of credit for the upliftment of these players goes to LIV Golf’s Phil Mickelson.

The golf legend had a wonderful career on the PGA Tour before he joined the Saudi league. Despite his support towards Greg Norman’s circuit, his statements and opinions about the PGA Tour have left a great impact on the officials. Moreover, Lefty himself is aware of how his comments led the tour to make serious policy changes for the betterment of their players. Although he doesn’t take direct credit for his contribution to these decisions, Phil Mickelson loves pouring sarcastic comments for his fans on social media.

When famous CBS writer Kyle Porter tweeted, “As it turns out, putting all the best players in all the same events is good for entertainment”, Mickelson had the best response to it. Who would have thought the golfer replied. For the unversed, the three-time Masters champion tried to highlight how LIV Golf is doing exactly the same thing–having the best players in all their tournaments.

Another perspective towards his statement could be the way his comments have led the PGA Tour to raise their prize money. And as a result, all top PGA Tour players now appear at as many tournaments as possible!

With all the progressive changes that the tour has made for its existing players, the conditions are pretty favorable on the PGA Tour now for the LIV Golf rebels. And fans are wondering if there is a chance to see their favorite players making a return to the American League. However, Phil Mickelson still has the same strong mindset of supporting the Saudi tour. In a recent interview, the golfer was asked if he would have left the tour if the changes were made a year ago.

He said: “I’m thankful it didn’t happen a year ago…I’m really happy with the way LIV has brought about new change to the game. Because this team aspect is something that we really never saw as a possibility in golf until LIV came along.”
