Paige recently did something like this when she tweeted about the hate Olivia Dunne is getting.

Olivia Dunne’s recent controversy

Dunne, nicknamed “Livvy,” is a 20-year-old artistic gymnast. She is also a huge social media influencer. Like Paige, Livvy started her social media journey with her gymnastics posts. She then went on to post regularly about other aspects of her life, too. In no time, her fans had grown in number.

Olivia has one of the largest social media followings of any collegiate athlete, across any sport. Her social media presence has over 6.2 million followers on TikTok and 2.3 million on Instagram. She also has a reported income of around $2 million per year from endorsements and sponsorship.

When news of her earnings spread, many had their opinions about it. Tara VanDerveer, the legendary Stanford women’s basketball coach, was among them. She criticized Dunne in an interview and accused her of selling s*x. She said, “I guess sometimes we have this swinging pendulum, where we maybe take two steps forward, and then we take a step back.”

Paige Spiranac stands up for Livvy.

Tara’s comments about Dunne triggered a whole controversy. Many sided with Tara and agreed with her point. While even more sided with Olivia and called out Tara and the rest. Paige stood by Dunne.

She backed up the gymnast, calling her “bad**s,” and said, “@livvydunne is getting hate for making 2 million a year. She’s built a successful business (at 20) all while being a student-athlete.” This is something quite admirable about Paige—the way she backs up those she believes in. This makes her an iconic social media sensation and is why she has an ever-growing fan base.
