After retiring from professional golf back in 2023, Michelle Wie West is mostly seen hosting the LPGA tournaments. One might also know her for 5 LPGA victories and 1 major victory. However, the former golfer also seems to have an interest in science. A recent wonder in the world of genetic sciences highlights her liking.
Recently, a Dallas-based biotech firm, Colossal Biosciences, shared an interesting update. They created a species of wolves known as dire wolves, — an ancient species that went extinct over 10,000 years ago and was popularized by the fantasy series Game of Thrones. They created it using a 12000-year-old fossil and cloning and gene-editing based on two ancient samples of dire wolf DNA. A total of three genetically engineered wolves exist: two males and one female. Romulus and Remus are six-month-old males, and Khaleesi is a three-month-old female.
After witnessing this wonder from science, 5x LPGA winner Michelle Wie West was incredibly excited for what the future hold. West hopes this might open up the possibility for dinosaurs. If y She expressed her thoughts recently via Instagram story. While resharing the video of this news, she wrote, “I am so ready for Dinosaurs. Let’s go,” as the company also aims to bring back lost species like the mammoth. For Dinsoaur nerds this might be a dream come true as the concept behind the infamour Jurassic Park seems more and more true.

Back in 2005, she made it to the quarterfinals of the 2005 U.S. Amateur Public Links — a now-discontinued USGA tournament that once granted a Masters exemption. Now, after all these years, she believes, “The amazing part about ANWA is that it’s created a platform where now people in the golf industry, outside the golf industry are knowing these girls’ names. It’s become a topic of discussion.” Not only that, she also suggests that amateur golfers should give one to two more years to their golf career.
