“I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t drinking on Tour but there was sometimes on Tour that I didn’t sober up to about the 13th or 14th hole,” he said. A shocked Bensinger demanded a confirmation, for which Daly had another tale to tell.
“You get in at 7:00, 7:30 in the morning, I got a tee time at 8:05 or nine o’clock,” which realistically meant Daly would be up till the early morning, drinking, before heading to the golf course.
Daly reveals he got practice in South Africa
Furthermore, Daly spoke about his time in South Africa, during which he learned how to drink and play golf simultaneously. “I got a lot of practice in South Africa from my buddies there. We stopped on a few rain delays at certain different tournaments,” Daly said.
“We would sit in those tents and get absolutely hammered during the rain delay, and the next thing you know, it’d be the next day, we’d go out and play from the same clothes,” he further revealed.
Daly also named a few golfers with whom he drank along in South Africa, with the list including names such as David Feherty, Ronnie McCann, and Deane Pappas. In the same segment, he later claimed to drink 35 to 40 beers in a single day, on top of which he would have some whiskey.
