This year Montgomerie turned 60. And days before his birthday he was approached by Golf Week to talk about the wonderful decades of experience under his belt. In the interview, Colin spoke on many things like Ryder Cup, and his years as a European Tour player but it was a big question related to LIV Tour that tested the player within him. When the interviewer asked Colin if LIV Golf, or something like it, had approached him in his prime would he have taken their offer? Firstly, he described what his buddies on the PGA Tour Champions feel about such an offer.

He said, “That’s a good question, isn’t it? You know, there’s talk on our Champions tour, which, you know, some of them are saying I wish LIV had a Champions tour four-ball, name a team or name a couple of teams of seniors, I think a number of them would have jumped ship, I’m sure with the money on offer.”

However, for Colin himself money is not that big of a temptation. He clarified “But myself, I’m very happy with what I’m doing right now.” Colin understands that the perks and privileges that LIV is offering are a big deal, but he wouldn’t exchange his current happiness for it.

Speaking on the matter he further said,” That’s a hypothetical question. So, you can’t really answer it. But at the same time, a few of them I’m sure would have said yes.”

Colin’s actions speak for themselves more than his actions. For more than 3 decades, he stuck to the European Tour only without swapping it for any other league. And he was greatly rewarded by fate as well. He has won a total of 31 events on the European Tour which is 4th of all time. And now he has completed 10 years on the PGA Tour Champions. A decade ago after turning 50, Montgomerie became a Hall of Famer and started playing on the senior circuit.
