Tyrrell Hatton has been on the hunt to gain vital points to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup. No, he is not looking for the captain of Team Europe, Luke Donald, to offer him a position. Instead, he wants to get in on merit. He will receive limited opportunities to earn official points due to his LIV Golf association. Hence, it might be a big challenge for him to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

But Hatton has not given up on his Bethpage dream. He awaits the next event that will give him the opportunity to earn Ryder Cup points. He can’t participate in the PGA Tour events as he is still barred from the league. Unlike most of the Team Europe hopefuls, the 33-year-old can only earn those points from his performances in the majors and some DP World Tour events.

Yes, Tyrrell Hatton will have to perform well in the majors to get a guaranteed slot in Team Europe. But the Englishman is determined to overcome the odds and win his first major and Ryder Cup qualification in 2025. He spoke about it during a post-round interview in the Team Cup. The same was shared by @flushingitgolf on their official X account, which stated, “Following on from an incredible performance at the Ryder Cup in Rome, Tyrrell Hatton has once again won 3.5 points out of 4 at the Team Cup for GB&I to give them a decisive victory over Continental Europe,” comparing his performances in both the events.

The tweet also added what Tyrrell Hatton had to say about his chances, I think by now Luke (Donald) knows what I’m capable of and the type of golf I can produce. Ultimately my job is harder to automatically qualify for the team, but I still see it as though I have 5 events to do that, and I’m going to give it my best. My last 3 Ryder Cups I’ve been able to automatically qualify and I’d like to keep that streak going.” This showed how confident Hatton is to qualify for Team Europe in the 2025 Ryder Cup.

So, where does he currently stand on the leaderboard? Let’s take a look at the Ryder Cup table.

Is Tyrrell Hatton qualified for the 2025 Ryder Cup for now?

As per the rankings on the official Ryder Cup website, Rory McIlroy leads the board with 792.07 points. Rasmus Hojgaard is at 2nd place with 706.53 points. The difference between 2nd and 3rd is much larger at nearly 120 points. However, as of now, Tyrrell Hatton is in third place with 587.84 points. However, unlike the LIV Golf pro, the other DP World Tour players have a better shot at securing a place.

Most top pros in the DP World Tour also have PGA Tour cards that give them access to more events. Moreover, Hatton also has commitments with LIV Golf that may hinder his chances of playing in the DP World Tour often. Hence, he will have to rely on the 4 majors and the upcoming Hero Dubai Desert Classic to book his place in Team Europe for the Ryder Cup.
