Former PGA Championship winner, Davis Love III, has delivered his take on the recent debate around the OWGR points system. For someone who spent a large part of his golf career without a rankings system, the 58-year-old has a sound idea to stop any bickering around the dispute.

Davis Love III provides clinical judgment regarding the OWGR debate
While having a conversation on the SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, Davis Love III presented his vision to evict the OWGR system from professional golf. For the unversed, OWGR stands for Official World Golf Rankings, which maintains the official points for professional golfers on the circuit.
Love III believed the elimination of the system solved numerous issues on the Tour. “I’d just get rid of them. Who cares? If you win the FedEx Cup, you win the FedEx Cup, you win the DP World Tour rankings, you win that,” he said on the Radio.
The 1997 PGA Championship winner insisted that the golf world should resort to a money list to rank golfers’ progress on the Tour. “You can solve a lot of things in the golf world right now if you stopped using world golf rankings and went back to everybody’s money lists,” he added.
Do other golfers stand in support of David Love III’s opinion?
While the situation has been caressed carefully to avoid conflict, Spanish golfer, Jon Rahm, has voiced a similar opinion to evict the OWGR system. Rahm had earlier termed the system as “laughable” during a pre-match press conference recently.
Davis Love III thinks golf should simply get rid of the OWGR system.
It's a pipedream that doesn't make any sense for a number of reasons.https://t.co/9wlVtbaGpK

But why did Rahm resort to such comments? The allocation of more points for an event with fewer top 50 ranked players as compared to another tournament running simultaneously. The competitions Rahm pointed out were the DP World Tour Championship and the PGA’s RSM Classic.
Seven of the world’s top 25 players will be plying their trade at the DP Tour event at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in the Middle East. However, the victor of the 50-member field will secure just shy of 22 OWGR points. On the other hand, the RSM Classic features merely one top-30 player, Irish golfer Seamus Power, yet features a winning bag of 39 OWGR points.
