And Team USA proves once again that they are unstoppable at the Presidents Cup! It is the 15th edition of the prestigious event at the Royal Montreal Golf Club and many in the golf world wanted a tough competition of the Americans against the International team. But things turned out to be a cakewalk for the United States at Thursday’s Four-Ball session. Jim Furyk absolutely played his cards right as all of his five pairings won a point and the USA will enter the second day of the Presidents Cup with a 5-0 lead.
In the history of the event, the Americans have lost only once (1998) so this now looks like another victory, and with such a lead, Collin Morikawa is not leaving any chance of rubbing salt in the International Team’s wounds. The 2-time major winner was paired with Sahith Theegala as they faced the Aussie duo, Min Woo Lee and Adam Scott. And this time, it was the Morikawa and Theegala pair who cooked Lee and Scott as they won 1 up, even though it is Lee who is usually regarded with his iconic quote, “Let him cook.”
The rivalry between the two did not end at the Royal Montreal Golf Club as Morikawa used that Lee line and rubbed the loss in his face. The 6-time PGA Tour winner posted a photo of him fist-bumping Theegala and captioned it, “Chef cooked. We ate.” He ate at the course and outside of it too, as even his teammate Max Homa was stunned by the savage captain and wrote in the comments, “Ice cold.”

Once the posts were out and about, the golf world did not take a second to who their support for the PGA Tour pro, and with just four words, it seems that Morikawa has won their praises and hearts.

Well, the race to becoming the PGA Tour Player of the Year is a close between Scottie Scheffler, who won seven events this season including the Masters, and Xander Schauffele who is the reigning PGA Championship and the Open winner. But there are other categories that Collin Morikawa just got nominated for after he slaughtered Min Woo Lee and his cooking aka golfing skills. As this fan read the caption, was in absolute awe and said, “Caption of the year candidate.”
What’s your perspective on:
Is Morikawa's confidence a breath of fresh air or just plain arrogance?

Another resonated with a similar emotion. There are many more years for Morikawa to become a part of HOF. After all, he has won only six PGA Tour events, including the two majors. He needs to win nine more events and reach the age of 45 to become a part of the World Golf Hall of Fame. But his caption has made it to the list already as this user exclaimed, “CAPTION IS GOING IN THE HALL OF FAME.”
The Presidents Cup was started in 1994, giving the Americans another platform to play team events other than the Ryder Cup. But their opponents came from all around the world except Europeans. And that made a huge difference. In simple words, it has always been easier for Team USA to win at the Presidents Cup than at the Ryder Cup. After all, they have won 12 editions, tied one in 2003, and lost only once in 1998. So, after the 5-0 start on Thursday, the fans ultimately judged that there would be another W in USA’s bag as this fan sarcastically commented, “Start the buses this ones over.”

Morikawa and Theegala started the session as they took the 1-up lead in the first three holes. However, after a tie at the fourth and fifth holes, Min Woo Lee and Adam Scott maintained a lead until it was tied once again at the 12th and 13th holes. After this, the American took the charge as Morikawa birdied the par-4 14th hole and was 1 up once again. The lead continued until the end and was the winning birdie putt for the USA. Thus, this fan complimented Morikawa’s caption and his gameplay, saying, “Straight SAVAGE words from Mr Morikawa. Well played.” And even though there are hundreds more reasons why Morikawa is one of the best golfers in today’s world, the brutal caption added a cherry on the top as this user proudly said, “This is my goat.”
Morikawa and Theegala are paired up once again as they played best on Thursday. They will be facing Scott and Taylor Pendrith for the first foursome session on Friday. Hopefully, they will cook again and earn the point for Team USA.
