John Daly's knee injury—heroic effort or time to hang up the clubs?

John Daly has withdrawn from yet another major. Flashes the message all over the internet. Daly arrived in Scotland and shot a first-round score of 82 at Royal Troon. However, the pain induced by his injury led him to withdraw, as he exited without speaking to the media. But why?

Well, the reason is the result of an unintended injury. This health setback has quashed Daly’s dreams of making a name for himself at the Open as a Senior Pro in a bid to live up to the standards set by Phil Mickelson. But as destiny intended, the dreams of this bad boy of golf have been quashed at Royal Troon due to a knee injury.

As per his declaration, this is the iliotibial (ITB) band syndrome. This causes pain that occurs due to the friction of the ITB moving over the lateral femoral epicondyle during exercise. Announcing the heartbreak induced by this sad reality, Daly wrote on X, “Disappointed on missing out @TheOpen b/c of a knee injury. watching from afar isn’t the same, but know I tried my heart out to get thru it. Was at physio this morning and made the decision to ice & rest it!”
