The neverending banter between LIV Golf and PGA Tour might still be of relevance to many fans. But to most golf enthusiasts, it is just an everyday struggle now. No matter what you see on Twitter golf, there are tons of comments that keep bringing up the banter between the leagues. Even the tours themselves are not so involved in giving statements anymore. But the fans just won’t stop. And that has brought along a serious question from Flushing It Golf on the platform.
Fans respond to ongoing LIV Golf vs PGA Tour banter
It has been almost a year since LIV Golf came into existence and took away some of the most talented players from the PGA Tour. And since then, there have been constant arguments and accusations between both tours. The consistent banter left a huge divide among both fans and professional golfers. PGA Tour loyalist, Rory McIlroy, and legend, Tiger Woods, even gave statements suggesting how wrong the defectors were for leaving the tour.

On the other hand, Phil Mickelson and other top players including Dustin Johnson and Ian Poulter stood with the new Saudi-based circuit. And as a result, lost tons of fans due to their actions. Several social media pages and handles covering the matter received regular reactions from fans for months. But now that things finally seem to have settled, there are still comments about the differences between the tours. And not just under posts that mention LIV Golf or the PGA Tour, but golf in general.
Fans are in a great dilemma about who is responsible for keeping the discussions going after so long. And so, Flushing It Golf recently tweeted asking if there were LIV Golf or PGA Tour bot accounts continuing the forgotten discussions. “The comments under almost every post seem be trying to start a LIV/PGAT argument, even if the tweet has nothing to do with it. It’s quite tiresome tbh and really weird.”, the tweet said.
Here is how the fans responded to it:
Most fans completely agreed with the fact that there were bot accounts that kept bringing the matter back up every now and then. A fan even used the pope being a catholic analogy that Ian Poulter used in the recent Netflix Docu-series.
Is the pope a catholic?

You can't possibly think that applies to only LIV posts. That's applies to basically every post at one time or another in the Twitter universe. Golf tweets are not an exception

Take it from me, yes, there’s definitely bot accounts on both sides under any tweet of mine about LIV😂 go look at the number of followers some of these people have, like less than 10 made in 2022 or 2023 lol.

The posts themselves seem to bait bots. Look at how great field A is toe field B. Think there is just a very small passionate following for both that just get annoyed with each other.

Agreed. Agreed. Agreed.
I’ve seen too many with less than 30 followers after “supposedly” being on Twitter for 5-10 years.
And there’s no profile pic 🤣.— Frank Scaramella (@21FrankS) February 27, 2023
On the other hand, some said it was the passionate fans who took the time and pain to talk about golf. Moreover, they liked getting involved in arguments and discussions under posts on a regular basis.
Someone asked me if I was a LIV bot because I posted something positive about LIV. There are likely some bots, but there are also some great fans that love golf and hope pga/liv can work together so we can just enjoy professional golf vs arguments

I just did a quick count and 12 accounts that are very pro LIV, post similar themes & have some variation of LIVGolf tracker/updates were all created in June, 2022.
Maybe just a coincidence because the first event was held that month. Or you could say it looks coordinated.

While some suggested that if the number of followers of an account is extremely low, they are supposedly bots. Some also joked about them being Phil Mickelson’s and other LIV Golf players’ burner accounts!
Most of the anti-LIV comments I receive are from people with less than 5 followers, so I do wonder 🤔

I suspect both. Look at the follower numbers

It's most likely Phil, Pat & Pat on their burner accounts.

Well, even if they are bot accounts, they are definitely enough to spark conversations among real golf fans. And that’s what adds to the entertainment and thrill of the sport over social media. One could look at it as a positive thing to make sure the leagues remain a hot topic. While it might actually irritate others to see the same kinds of conversations under every other golf tweet!
