The LPGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions is currently underway. The 2023 season’s first event recently saw the second round at Lake Nona end. Along with the tour champions, celebrity players will also be competing. Among them is one of the most accomplished golfers on the Tour, Annika Sorenstam. After her incredible performance in the first round, Sorenstam’s performance took a fall. And her husband hilariously took responsibility for it.

The celebrity golfers are paired up with the LPGA Tour pros and compete on a separate leaderboard. At the end of round one, Annika saw herself high up on the leaderboard. But things quickly changed in the second round.

Sorenstam’s caddie claims to have doomed the golf legend’s performance

Caddying for the 10-time major winner at the TOC is her husband, Mike McGee. The golf legend started off the tournament with a bang. As per a recent Golfweek report, she carded a bogey-free round for the first time in a decade on her home course, Lake Nona.

Soon after the game, Mike, incredibly proud of what his wife had accomplished, proudly showed off her achievement on Twitter. But the couple’s victory didn’t last long. In the second round, Annika scored 30, compared to her first round of 39. The celebrities’ scoring follows a Stableford system, where, unlike a regular golf score, a higher score is better.

Soon after her horrific fall, which caused her to drop from the 2nd position to the 4th, Sorenstam’s husband once again took to Twitter. “I shouldn’t have mentioned @ANNIKA59’s bogey free round yesterday,” he wrote hilariously. “Today we made up for it. Despite that, Mike trusts in Annika’s skill on the course. He added that he was certain the third round would be better.

In each round of the TOC, the celebrities and amateurs that the pros are paired up with change. The 72-time LPGA Tour champion was paired with Brooke Henderson during her second round. Henderson currently ranks first after the first two rounds of the TDC.

McGee and Sorenstam both enjoyed her company on Friday. Mike wrote, “It was a joy being with @BrookeHenderson.” “Great day for a great team!” Henderson leads by three strokes, but maintaining it, however, will be difficult. Besides the competitive field of the TOC, the pro also has world rank 2, Nelly Korda, close behind, tied for second place. Korda too is undoubtedly looking to grab the win and the perks that come with it.
