Lexi Thompson was just a 16-year-old when she debuted as a professional golfer in 2010. Twelve years later, she still dominates the tournaments she plays in. And one of the main reasons the golfer remains in the top order is she has always been keen on following a strict diet and workout routine. 

“It is very important to be just physically fit when you’re playing a sport or any type of athlete overall,” Thompson said in a 2013 interview. Notably, she was only nineteen years old when she appeared in the interview and has already dedicated three to five days per week to workout sessions.

Furthermore, the golfer proudly revealed that she trains with the trainer of the Florida Panthers, her favorite NHL team. 

Lexi Thompson revealed her least favorite exercise in her workout program

Like everybody else, the 1-time major champion, too, had trouble doing exercises. However, after diligently following her diet and being consistent with her workout sessions, she started enjoying them. However, there is still one exercise that the 19-year-old wished her trainer wouldn’t let her do.

“Sled pulling is pretty hard,” she admitted to the hosts of her interview, Holly Sonders and Gary Williams. “That is something interesting, and my trainer puts a good amount of weight on the sled,” she added. 

“It is very difficult, but I love it,” Thompson told the Golf Channel hosts. “I love training and just knowing I can improve on my fitness is very important to me,” she added.

The golfer also revealed that she improved her core strength the most, which is important for hitting golf swings, within three years of debuting. “I feel a lot better about myself,” she smilingly said in the interview. 

What did the 19-year-old American golfer eat during a round of golf?

Along with her workout sessions, Lexi Thompson also used to keep track of what she eats. However, she follows a special diet when she plays in an event. This includes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, protein bars, and beef jerky.

Notably, Thompson began to follow this diet while playing golf because of the legendary golfer Tiger Woods. She revealed the same in another interview in 2020. According to her, Woods wanted her to take them to keep her calories and energy level up.

Years later, Thompson still gives extra care to her physique to keep her fit. She is considered one of the fittest female golfers. And she gained the title because of her determination and love for workout from a young age.
