Phil Mickelson was one of the top golfers on the PGA Tour, with 45 PGA Tour titles. However, since Tiger dominated the entire 2000s decade, a few golfers did not receive the attention they should have. Hence, there are plenty of stories that fans are yet to hear about Phil Mickelson and a few other golfers.

Meanwhile, we all know everything about Phil’s achievements on the golf course. However, fans know little about his personal life, especially the period when he met his wife, Amy. And Mickelson, along with his ex-caddie, Jim Bones MacKay, recalled how Phil met and downplayed his love for Amy.

Phil Mickelson first met Amy in 1993. And he explained this incident to his ex-caddie and good friend, Jim Bones MacKay. “I knew within 10 minutes that she was the woman he was going to marry,” recalls Bones.

Meanwhile, the golfer was shy while recalling his first meeting with his wife. He revealed they played tennis together and talked about how neither wanted a serious relationship. “I tried to deny it. Three or four months later, I just knew I wanted to be with her,” revealed Mickelson.

Furthermore, the couple eventually got married in 1996, and they have been together for over 25 years now. And Mickelson’s mother reveals that they both still share the same love as they are meeting for the first time. Earlier, she used to visit Phil wherever he competed. However, we haven’t seen her on the course supporting Mickelson in a while.

Moreover, the couple now has three children, a boy, and two girls. Phil’s daughters are Amanda Brynn Mickelson and Sophia Isabel Mickelson. They are 23 and 20 years old, respectively. His son is Evan Samuel Mickelson, 19 years old.

Therefore, Phil Mickelson has always had the strong support of his family. They have been with the golfer through all the ebbs and flows of his life. Hence, even though he faced plenty of criticism for his comments about the PGA Tour and his decision to join LIV Golf, he had emotional support from his family, which is crucial.
