In a recent conversation with the reporters at the Greats of Golf exhibition, Nicklaus detailed one such conversation between him and Woods. And surprisingly, he ended up revealing what the golf legend was going through before stepping on the 2023 Masters field. “He’s showed a lot of guts and courage to play…He’s actually swinging pretty well; he just can’t walk.” Nicklaus said.
He also mentioned how Woods was pretty confident about everything but his ability to walk at Augusta. “He said, ‘I’m really playing well. I’m hitting the ball great…My short game’s great. My putting’s good,” Nicklaus recalled. “He said, ‘I just can’t walk.’ And he says, ‘If it helps where I can walk, I’m willing to do it.’ ”
