For the first time in many months, Phil Mickelson has found himself in a great position to win an event. His last win came in 2021 when he won the PGA Championship. At that time, he was with the PGA Tour. He has since joined the LIV Golf and despite having featured in multiple tournaments, he is yet to record his first win in the Saudi-backed league.
All that appears set to change in the ongoing Bedminster event even as new betting allegations are circulating against him. At the end of the second round, the six-time major winner is tied second, four strokes behind the leader. Going by Mickelson’s comments at the post-round presser, he appears not too bothered about the allegations; rather he has his sights set on the trophy at the ongoing event. Let’s see what Mickelson said on Saturday.

The LIV Golf Clan is in New Jersey at Trump National Golf Club, and the leaderboard looks quite interesting. Cameron Smith is in the first position with a total score of 9 under so far, and the second position is tied between Mickelson and Dean Burmester with a final score of 5 under so far.
For the first time, Mickelson is in the winning position in a LIV Golf tournament, and he is really looking forward to the final round. Even though he has won loads of tournaments in his career and he should not feel nervous on account of his massive experience heading into the final round, Mickelson surprises one and all with his confession.
“I’m sure. I’m sure there’s an element. I haven’t won since the PGA in ’21, so it’s been a couple years, and I would love getting back into that feeling of having a chance to win and having each shot bring that pressure about.
“Sure, I’ll feel it. That’s why we still want to play or I still want to play because I love that challenge of trying to compete and trying to do that, and I still get nervous every time I have a chance,” he said.
