In one of these tweets, a user posted what came across as a blunt truth by sharing his thoughts on Spiranac. The tweet went like this: “I admire her effort. I wish her well. But I can’t drum up sympathy for people who objectify themselves and then complain about not being taken seriously.”
The protagonist in this story was having none of it. Spiranac replied to the tweet by saying she was being harassed and received death threats from the goons of the internet.
She conveyed that the problems she faced were much bigger than getting recognition or appraisal and that the problem was larger than that. Her full tweet, stated, “I don’t complain about not being taken seriously or people not liking what I wear. What I’m talking about is people harassing me, sending me death threats, attacking my parents, invading my privacy, and blackmailing me. It happens daily. I fight against that.”
