And the winner is… Matt McCarty. Given his consistently strong performance throughout the Black Desert Championship, it was almost inevitable that McCarty would take the title. Taking home the whopping prize money of $1.35 million, McCarty has certainly become the talk of the town. However, while he enjoys the well-earned spotlight, we cannot overlook another standout player from the event: Lucas Glover.
Finishing tied at T2, Glover indeed gave a remarkable performance. As we hail him for that, it would be interesting to see his stance on his impressive standing on the Black Desert Championship leaderboard. With a score of 9-under, Glover secured third place, positioned right beneath Matt McCarty and S. Jäger. While he expressed gratitude for his current standing, the 44-year-old golfer also seemed self-critical while reflecting on his performance.

During a recent media interaction, Glover was asked about the impact of his high finish on his upcoming fall schedule. Now, you may think that after such a strong performance, anyone would be filled with optimism, right? Yes, anyone might have, but not Glover. The golfer approached this question with a dose of self-reflection, stating, “I’m here because I didn’t play well the regular part of the year.”
He even very candidly admitted that he didn’t really understand the PGA Tour’s ranking system, humorously adding that he might require a “Nobel math scholar” to make sense of it all. While Glover’s efforts on the course were clearly evident, he honestly acknowledged struggling with reading the greens throughout the week, something with which most of the participants could agree. This difficulty, particularly on the back nine, became an obstacle for him as he missed crucial opportunities for birdies.
