Scottie Scheffler‘s win at the 2024 Hero World Challenge showed everyone exactly why he is the world’s no. 1 golfer. Coming back after a 3-month hiatus, everyone expected Mr. Inevitable to take time to settle into a rhythm. But Scheffler looked as sharp as he did when he lifted the Tour Championship back in September 2024.

With the victory, Scheffler has also captured his 7th title of the season. He has also accumulated more than $55 million in prize money. Lastly, a day after his win, Scottie Scheffler had also completed 82 weeks as the world no. 1, surpassing Sir Nick Faldo’s record for the longest streak at the top.

So many victories for the drama slayer that it might seem like he is on the top of the world. And he would have his entire team to thank for their incredible support, including his caddie; Ted Scott. As ironic as it sounds, Scott has been caddying for Scheffler since 2021. So in their time together, the Ridgewood local has picked up all of his 13 PGA Tour titles.

While Ted’s guidance may have immensely helped the World No. 1 start winning, it seems that Scheffler’s skills may have rubbed off on his caddy as well, or so he may think. Just a few hours ago, Ted Scott tried to awaken his inner Scottie Scheffler as he tried to chip onto the greens in a post-Hero World Challenge challenge.

As recorded by one of his associates, Scott can be seen hitting off the fairway at the Calusa Pines. The Instagram story also came with a caption tagging the caddy saying, “@jtedscott Not quite Scottie quality but pretty good.” Ted reshared the story on his Instagram adding “I clean clubs, I don’t use them 😬.

His honesty might have won over many of his followers as they watched Ted Scott’s attempt in amusement. While he may not have a grasp of the club, he is excellent at reading the green and understanding his boss considering how much success Scheffler has had since aligning with him. That’s why he has also experienced major financial gains along with his boss, earning over $5.33 million in 2024 as reported by Golfweek.

But Scheffler is not the only one who has benefitted from Ted Scott’s incredible insights. The veteran caddie has had a long history of partnering up with another great golfer for a prolonged period.

Ted Scott before Scottie Scheffler

The celebrated caddie of Scottie Scheffler has been in the business for 24 years as per his Instagram profile. 15 of those years were with Bubba Watson. Watson and Scott partnered up somewhere around 2006 and ended their run in 2021. During his spell with the LIV Golf pro, Ted had seen him capture 12 PGA Tour wins which included 2 Masters Tournaments in 2012 and 2014.

In Ted Scott’s presence, Scottie Scheffler has also bagged 2 Masters Tournaments in 2022 and again in 2024. Seems like the path to the green jacket begins with hiring Ted Scott as your caddie. Maybe Rory McIlroy can pick up some pointers from this interesting statistic.
