Hunter x Hunter has topped the list of many fans, be it in the form of manga or anime. Togashi Yoshihiro was able to pull off the stunning series through the sheer amount of hard work and perseverance that he managed to put through despite facing many struggles leading to the long and repeated hiatus of the graphic novel.

It is now time for the fans to rest easy as the creator of the comic himself decided to come out with a reveal. However, what surprised many was the comparison that he drew with the main character of HxH and the work known as Oi! Tonbo, all the while recommending the latter, which is a manga based on the sport of golf, to his fans!

Hunter x Hunter creator shares his view on the golf manga

Yoshihiro is famous for authoring several manga series in a variety of different genres. His works, including HxH and Yu Yu Hakusho, are but some of the graphic novels that have earned the title of the best-selling manga in history. And, such a mangaka had much to say regarding Oi! Tonbo, — a comic on the game of golf.

The Japanese artist, in an interview, expressed his admiration for the manga. The writer mentioned how he is a fan of the same, all the while comparing Gon, the protagonist of HxH to Tonbo, the main character of the sporting comic. The author revealed how the former, an aspiring hunter, was similar to the latter, who is an aspiring golfer.

The golfing manga was written by Kawasaki Ken and has a total of 46 volumes to date. Moreover, the work was illustrated by Furusawa Y and was released in 2014 weekly in the Golf Digest magazine. And now, the famous graphic novel is set to receive an adaptation on TV by Studio OLM in the coming year, 2024.

Well, that was truly an unexpected comparison by the famous author. Moreover, this has only led to an increase in the curiosity of many regarding the sporting comic.

Oi Tonbo! A marvel of the golfing world

The golf manga and the upcoming anime adaptation basically narrate the story of Tonbo, a second-year high school student in the Tokara Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture. The girl meets Ichika Igarashi, a former pro in the sport of golf who is running away from his past.

The incredible talent that the latter finds in the young girl, coupled with their meeting, changes the fate of both the characters as they traverse their incredible yet hard journey through the game of golf. It makes sense to be excited about the anime that is to drop next year following the success of the manga.
