PGA Tour pro, Max Homa, had to face embarrassment recently after one of his unseen pictures went viral. And now, he is again the talk of the town for prices of the green ticket. The six-time winner on the Tour has shared his views on the pricing, and the golf world has reacted to it. Do they agree with him or not?
Is the golf world not on board with Max Homa?
Talking about the green ticket, Homa said, “Apparently this is only for Monday and Tuesday. Would be a bummer to see it’s $600 for Sunday but I don’t see that number.” A green ticket entitles you to play one round of golf at a particular course on the stated days and times. It is essentially a round of golf that you purchase for less money than the course would normally charge. However, a fan replied, “It’s probably $600. Golf is a tremendous game; it’s just not affordable in almost anyway.”

Homa did some research on the facts and replied with his updated knowledge. He said, “Golf is very expensive. It’s not great at all to see green fee prices surge.” The pro added, “However I would argue that $250 a ticket (I looked it up cuz I was wrong about this first find) isn’t asinine compared to other major sporting events.” He was already facing embarrassment for his ‘golf-tan’ picture. But it increased when a fan pointed out how incorrect the golfer was.
Perfectly stated Ernie
This is the point where @maxhoma23 is 100% incorrect on his point of view that $250 for a grounds ticket at a golf tournament is seemingly reasonable compared to other sporting events.

Fans shared their experience and views on the green ticket pricing. Many agreed with the individual 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship winner. But at the same time, many were against it. Here are the reactions from some fans:
a playoff ticket to a nba, nhl, mlb or nfl game would be at least that if not more

Agreed – not too many sports where 250 gets you extremely close to the athlete and a full day of enjoyment. Court side seats are 3 months of an expensive home mortgage

As my buddies who hate golf yet still always say “I’m basically just paying to drink in a park”
$250 for a day pass is far too steep IMO, do better @PGA

I sold my Wednesday masters practice round tickets (shhh) and now have money for a down payment for a house.

And it does include food and drink this year… I'm going to Wednesday/Thursday and it isn't THAT expensive.

US Open even more expensive, and well, The Masters…
— Jordan K (@jordanravens1) March 28, 2023
It'll end up being $300 by the time you pound 5 bud lattes. Still cheaper than the $15/bottle of water though. #FanLife

Correct. And the US Open is the best deal on earth!

I don’t have so much an issue with the price of the ticket, but the fees certainly aren’t fan friendly. But, like the man said, “That’s Capitalism!”

Golf fans will have to pay more for Masters?
This year, the prices of Masters tickets have also seen an unexpected surge. According to a recent study, there is only a 0.55 % chance that a golf fan will win the ticket lottery. But in 2023, those who are fortunate enough to have access to them will have to spend more, predicts John Boyette, executive editor of The Aiken Standard and a former contributor to the Augusta Chronicle. It appears that inflation is affecting even Augusta National. A 20% rise from $375 to $450 is a huge increase! But once more, it costs $100 and changes per day to enter the revered grounds of Augusta National Golf Club to watch The Masters.
