Scottie Scheffler’s five-year professional career is decked with multiple wins, six in his home tour, with one Major to his name. But the golfer’s seemingly easy-going, carefree nature hides his fierce competitive mentality on the greens. While he wants to grab a win just like any other athlete, his demeanor doesn’t let that slip easily.

The question remains, though, who is Scottie Scheffler to those who have known him since before he became famous? How is he to those who see him regularly? This is what his wife, Meredith Scheffeler, who has known him since high school, had to say when asked about her husband’s unassuming personality.

Despite the burly physique that might give you the impression of a tough guy, Scheffler is probably the most stoical personality to come across on the greens. While it is his calm nature that eases matters for him on the course, the golfer’s wife revealed that to be true even for his personal life.

Meredith Scheffler, his high-school sweetheart and now wife, in a candid chat with Golf Digest commented about her first impression of the golf star. She said, “At the beginning of high school, I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Meredith added a fact well-known to the golf world, remarking how modest the PGA Tour professional has always been. She said, “Even when he had amazing accomplishments, that wasn’t the most important thing about him.”

Be it after his first Major victory or winning the Ryder Cup in his debut appearance, Scheffler has maintained a patient appearance throughout the most glorious moments in his career that has earned him a dedicated fanbase. They have surely missed his presence on the greens in the last few months with the 27-year-old yet to break his long hiatus after the Ryder Cup.

When will Scheffler play next?

After the Ryder Cup debacle where Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland wiped the floor with Scheffler and Brooks Koepka, the world no.1 is yet to be back on the greens. It’s not clear whether he’ll tee it up at the next two PGA Tour events or not. But one thing is for sure, the 2022 Masters winner is going to play at the Hero World Challenge alongside other stalwarts.

The tournament will tee off later this month on November 30. Despite missing many tournaments, the PGA Tour pro has been able to hold his No. 1 spot in the OWGR ranking. But if you remind him of that, he’ll perhaps chuckle and move on.
