‘Huge Turn Off’: Fans Reject Charley Hull’s Baddie Moment As It Fails To Inspire at 2024 US Women’s Open

The headlines are brimming with the name of the Rolex No. 8 player, Charley Hull. This time, it is not because of her performance on the course, but because of something that she did off the course. Right ahead of the US Women’s Open, which is scheduled to begin on May 30, Hull was seen signing autographs for fans while smoking a cigarette.

NUCLR GOLF took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account and shared a short 12-second video snippet of the incident. And they drew comparisons between Hull and John Daly, who is known for his audacious lifestyle and smoking habits. Taking to this, NUCLR GOLF in the caption wrote, “That’s awesome, John Daly-esque.”

Apart from cigarettes, Charley Hull has been previously spotted blowing smoke from her vape at the 2023 LPGA Meijer Classic at the Blythefield Country Club. In the past, she shared a little fun exchange that took place between her and her father and even stated, Saturday sessions with my dad ft his smoke cloud from his cigarette. However, her recent actions during the practice round did not get approval from the golf community.

Golf fans were left disappointed in Charley Hull

This was not the first time that Charley Hull was spotted with a cigarette on the golf course. Two weeks ago, at the Mizuho Americas Open, Charley Hull was seen smoking a cigarette during the practice round at the Liberty National Golf Course. One fan left a rather sarcastic comment for the 28-year-old, “Now that is a great role model. Come on Charley.” 

In the video that was shared, Charley Hull, while signing the autographs ended up blowing smoke into the fans’ faces, which did not go unnoticed by the netizens Taking to this, they commented, “Smoking is super cool until it isn’t.”  and 

When one thinks of smoking and golf, John Daly’s name definitely comes up. One fan couldn’t help but link Charley Hull with the veteran golfer, given their same habits. “John Daly’s long-lost sister.” The Bad Boy of Golf is known for his liking towards smoking and drinking. In one of his interviews, he had also admitted that he would come to the course drunk and was spotted smoking before or during the rounds of the championships that he played in.

The fan who captured the moment looked impressed at the end of the video by the LPGA pro’s actions. However, the netizens chose to vocalize their objection and rejected the idea of smoking. “Huge turn off.  I thought she looked good until I saw this. Disgusting”, and “Why are we praising smoking? Disgusting”.

Although Charley Hull is among the Top-10 golfers on the Rolex list, the LPGA pro has not been having the best time on the course. At the first major of this season, Hull secured a T23. Apart from the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January, where she secured a T7, the English golfer has failed to find a spot within the top 10 in any of the events she has participated in this season.
