LIV Golf has seen a lot of controversies since its inception in 2022. A lot of players were at the end of a severe backlash as they jumped ships from the different Tours to the Saudi-backed league. Even so, the field of 48 golfers saw themselves take part in a series of tournaments boasting a huge amount of money amidst top competition.

The 2023 season saw the last four players on the season standings, including Brooks Koepka’s brother Chase Koepka, getting relegated from the league. Following this, the question naturally arises, who will take the place of the four golfers that lost their spots at the end of the event in Jeddah?

The likes of Koepka, Jediah Morgan, James Piot, and Sihwan Kim were unable to keep their spots for the 2024 season as they found themselves at the bottom of the standings. However, in a bid to replace these players, the Saudi-backed League announced the LIV Golf Promotions event that is set to take place in Abu Dhabi Golf Club at the end of 2023.

The tournament will see the field of players compete for the three remaining spots in the next season of the PIF-funded event as one seat has been filled by Andy Ogletree following his No. 1 finish on the Asian Tour’s International Series. The event will kick off on December 8th while boasting a prize purse of $1.5 million.

The competition would consist of an 18-hole round on Friday followed by another 18 holes on Saturday. The players who will survive the two cuts would carry on to the 36-hole final that is set to take place on Sunday. Since every player who participates will get a minimum of $5000, the number of golfers set to enter the same would be limited owing to certain restrictions.
