After wrapping up the only team event on the PGA Tour calendar, the Tour will return to Texas for another showdown at TPC Craig Ranch for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Its history goes back as far as 1926 when it was called the Dallas Open. The event went on a hiatus and returned as the Texas Victory Open in 1944. 24 years after the event started, the name was changed to the Byron Nelson Golf Classic.

Since then, the sponsor of the event has changed many times but the name has remained the same. The event will start on May 2 and conclude on May 5. To watch the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, the TV schedule and streaming times are given below.

When will the CJ Cup Byron Nelson start on the Golf Channel?

There are several ways to watch the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, the first being through the Golf Channel. It will broadcast the first two rounds, Thursday and Friday, starting at 4:00 p.m., and it will end at 7:00 p.m. The Saturday and Sunday rounds after the 36-hole cut is made will be televised from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The last two can also be watched on CBS, the other broadcast partner of the PGA Tour, which will televise the weekend round starting from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On the other hand, the PGA Tour also offers streaming of its events on three channels: Peacock, Paramount+, and ESPN+. Peacock is just a simulcast of Golf Channel but for LIVE action direct from TPC Craig Ranch, one has to get their hands on ESPN+

There, the PGA Tour will start the rounds by 7:45 a.m. on stream; there are four different streams available on ESPN+. The round will more or less end by 4:00 p.m., but it’s golf and nothing can be said for sure. Moreover, on ESPN+ there will also be separate streams for marquee groups, Featured Groups, and holes.

But what if one cannot watch the event? In that case, one can enjoy the Texas event on PGA Tour Radio on Sirius XM. The commentary will also be available at PGATour.com for free. The timing for the first two rounds will be 1 to 7 p.m., whereas the last two will be 1 to 6 p.m. All times are in EST.

Top-ranked golfers in the field of CJ Cup Byron Nelson

There are 156 players in the field at the TPC Craig Ranch and mostly it is filled with young talents like Nick Dunlap and Tom Kim. But it also has a few veterans. The highest-ranked player, though, is Jordan Spieth. The 30-year-old has been struggling with ulnar nerve damage in his wrist and has missed three cuts so far.

But before the Wells Fargo Championship commences, Spieth would want a better push into the 6th Signature event. A better performance in Texas may improve his trajectory in the 2024 season. Another top player in the field is Jason Day, also the defending champion.

He has already won the event twice (2023 and 2010). Other prominent faces are Min Woo Lee, two-time winner K.H. Lee, and Will Zalatoris. Though there are 156 players, only one will taste victory. Who shall it be?
