54 years since its inception, the Cognizant Classic is back on the PGA National Members Club in Palm Beaches. Scheduled for February 27, the tour will be held in a destination that boasts 47 miles of Atlantic coast beaches and is known for its top-designed golf courses. Austin Eckroat will be looking to defend his title this year. If he succeeds, he will become the first player since Jack Nicklaus to defend his title consecutively at the Cognizant Classic (1978). Although the tour will not feature any of the Top 10 players, you can still catch 16 of the Top 50 players in action at the first event of the Florida swing. Sounds good? Let’s take a look at how you can get a glimpse into the games.

If you can’t attend the games in person, you can rely on The Golf Channel. It’s pretty straightforward, but let’s take a look at the first two days. The channel will air the rounds scheduled for Thursday (Feb 27) from 2 pm to 6 pm (EST). Again, on the next day (Feb 28), Golf Channel will broadcast the games from 2 pm to 6 pm (EST).

How about days 3 and 4? Well, as we mentioned, it’s pretty straightforward. However, in the last two days, you will have the opportunity to choose your streaming option. On the third day (Mar 1), Golf Channel will broadcast the third round from 1 pm to 3 pm (EST), while NBC will air it from 3 pm to 6 pm (EST). For the final day of the tournament, Golf Channel will show the last round from 1 pm to 3 pm (EST), and NBC will take over from 3 pm to 6 pm (EST).

Skillful golfers to watch out for this Cognizant Classic

Let’s take a brief look at the course hosting our golfers. The course’s most recent design came from Jack Nicklaus who modified the greens in 2019. Besides the updated greens, the Bermuda fairways and larger-than-average greens are in play, along with plenty of hazards on the holes to toughen up the games. Good? The 144-player field has a total purse of $9.2 million and will have Jordan Spieth in the competition! Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Spieth committed to playing about an hour and a half after the initial field list dropped. It is even more special because this will be the first time playing the event in his 12-year-long career.

Spieth had a moderate start to the season, but it’s still exciting. How about the next promising golfer? Well, it’s Rickie Fowler. Although Fowler has also had a moderate start this year, he finished with a respectable T39 in the Genesis Invitational. Billy Horschel, on the other hand, peaked at T9 in the AT&T Pebble Beach. Among the other big names are Shane Lowry, who finished 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach this season, and Sungjae Im, who reached 3rd place in The Sentry early this year.
