What to expect at the 2025 Valspar Championship

The Valspar Championship technically begins a few days before the first official round, with pro-ams, practice rounds, and other pre-tournament events kicking off on March 16. But the real competition starts on March 20, when 144 players will battle it out in a par-71 stroke play event for a total prize pool of $8.7 million, with the winner taking home $1.72 million.

Last year, Peter Malnati pulled off an incredible win, finishing 12 under to claim his second PGA Tour title, fending off Cameron Young in the process. This time around, he’ll have his hands full with a stacked field of competitors. Xander Schauffele is back in action after a rib injury and looking to regain top form. Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood are both hungry to make an impact, and let’s not forget Jordan Spieth—the 2015 Valspar champ—who has returned this season after wrist surgery.
