The Solheim Cup and the Ryder Cup have been two fan favorites. This is why both the tournaments are held alternatively, so as not to steal the spotlight. When the Solheim Cup started in 1990, it happened in even-numbered years, except 2003 and 2023.

In 2002, the Ryder Cup was delayed because of the September 11 attacks, which is why the Solheim Cup was also pushed to odd-numbered years to avoid clashing with the men’s biennial event, which had moved to even-numbered years.

This edition of the Solheim Cup is the second time the Cup is happening back-to-back. The reason is the same: postponement of the Ryder Cup due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to 2021, which was the same year as the women’s biennial event. Going forward, it was decided that the matches would move back to alternate years so that they don’t clash.
