The event held in McKinney, Texas, from May 1 to May 4 will have a $9.9 million purse, an increase of $400,000 from last year. The field is loaded with the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth. Both will be looking to take themselves out of the current title drought they are in with a strong showing at the upcoming event.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson broadcast schedule

The twentieth event of the PGA Tour is available on the Golf Channel in the United States of America. The Texas-based event will start streaming on the channel at 3 PM EDT on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2. The broadcast will start 3 hours earlier on Saturday and Sunday at noon EDT. The event will start at 9 PM BST on Thursday and Friday, and 6 PM BST on Saturday and Sunday. DIRECTV offers streaming services online as part of its subscription package. Indian golfing fans can catch the action through the online streaming service FanCode for a sum of ₹899. The event will be highly anticipated in South Korea, as three of the last five winners have been from the Asian country.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson’s Korean connection

The entire tournament has a deep-standing connection with the country. CJ Group, which is the sponsor of the tournament, is a South Korean conglomerate holding company that works in various industries like food, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and many others. The connection does not end there. The winner of the tournament receives a plaque with names of past tournament winners and other prominent golf players carved in hangeul, which is the Korean alphabet.

The trophy was designed by Korean artisans and made with the cooperation of the National Museum of Korea and the Cheongju Early Printing Museum. Taylor Pendrith, after his victory last year, stated, “Having my name engraved in hangeul on the trophy was an incredibly special experience.” Even Kai Trump, in her promotional reel for the event, stated that the event would be a celebration of Korean culture.
