Well, if you’re busy following the golf world right now, let us add another event to your list. Starting on February 27, the lovely Royal Durban Golf Course will welcome this year’s Investec South African Open! One of the oldest national golf tournaments in the world. First played in 1903, the course, surrounded by race tracks and hilly neighborhoods, will feature 156 pro golfers competing for a whopping total purse of $1.5 million! But that’s not all the tournament will offer in terms of prizes.

Now in its 114th year, the tournament will introduce a $100,000 Order of Merit prize that will run throughout the first season of the DP World Tour. Additionally, the leaders of this Order of Merit will receive an invitation to the first Rolex event of the following season! That means the stakes are high making the competition all heated up. With so much to offer golfers and fans, we know you want to catch all the live action during this 4-day event. Let us tell you how you can ensure that.

The ticketing options are straightforward. You can purchase General Access tickets for all four days. Interestingly, the ticket prices remain the same for each day: $5.44 (R100). However, if you want to confirm your attendance for all days at once, the tour offers a bundle option that allows you to get general access to all days for $16.32 (R300). However, please remember to bring your government-issued ID for age verification. Is there another sweet deal? Yes! If you’re already a client of Investec, you’ll receive a 100% discount on your tickets when you pay with an Investec VISA card.

Additionally, for the subscribers of Pick n Pay SmartShopper, the tour offers 50% off tickets. Additionally, the tickets for all four individual days come at the same price: $2.72 (R50) each. Sounds good? Well, you will have to hurry to secure your seat! Currently, the availability looks like this: 192 (Day 1), 176 (Day 2), 129 (Day 3), and 107 (Day 4).

This tournament is special for several reasons. For instance, the Investec South African Open Championship is returning to Durban Country Club for the first time since 2010. The former world No. 1, Ernie Els, claimed his 5th National Open on the same course in 2010. Not only that, but since then, the Durban Country Club has undergone significant renovations and redesigned several holes. Now that we know the greens look exciting, let us introduce you to some of the top names joining this season!

What’s your perspective on:

Can Dean Burmester defend his title, or will a new champion emerge at Durban Country Club?

Have an interesting take?

For starters, Charl SchwartzelShaun Norris, and Branden Grace have confirmed their participation this season. Last year’s champion, Dean Burmester, will return to the greens to defend his title. But there’s something even more interesting about this event.
