Tiger Woods has had an incredible impact on the golfing world. Almost every golfer from this generation has idolized the legend. And one such golfer is the current World No.1, Scottie Scheffler, who also won the 2022 Masters. In the 2020 Masters, Scheffler had an opportunity of playing with his childhood hero during the final round.

Hence, Scheffler did not miss this golden opportunity and tried to soak in as many insights as possible from Tiger about playing at the Augusta National. Moreover, the current Masters champion was in awe of Woods’ precise iron play, and that influenced Scheffler in trying Tiger’s irons.

Recently, Scottie appeared on the Golf’s Fully Equipped podcast, and there he revealed this thing. “[Tiger] hits the ball so stinkin’ solid and just shapes it so well,” said Scheffler. “I watched him hit the ball [at Augusta], and I was like, I’ve got to at least try these.”

Meanwhile, Scottie was using TaylorMade’s P730 blades. However, after seeing the way Tiger hit those precise iron shots, he tried his hands on Woods designed TaylorMade P7TW irons.

Scottie is also associated with Nike and wears the TW edition shoes. Hence, as Nike stopped manufacturing the clubs just like Tiger, even Scheffler switched to TaylorMade. “I always had the connection with Tiger through all the Nike equipment,” said Scheffler. “And so when he switched over to TaylorMade, I figured this should be a pretty easy transition.”

Additionally, Scheffler revealed the benefits of using the P7TW irons. The 2022 Masters champion said he was able to hit different windows and could flight it down or pitch it lower whenever required. Hence, this kind of control is what he needed in his game, and we can see the results of it this season.
