LIV Golf claims to be ‘growing the game of golf,’ but there’s massive debate around it because of Saudi Arabia’s funding and players allegedly leaving for that amount of money. 15 times Major champion, Tiger Woods, has already been in news for saying no to the LIV Golf offer. But now, Woods and Rory McIlroy are joining hands to come up with something that could possibly “grow the game of golf” and save the PGA tour.

It granted a huge relief to PGA supporters when Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy made an announcement on Tuesday. They have joined hands together and have started a technology-focused company. The idea of the venture is “progressive approaches to sports, media and entertainment.”
They have named their company as “TMRW Sports” (pronounced as tomorrow). The former president of NBC Sports’ golf, Mike McCarley, is the co-founder and will be the CEO of the venture. Former NBC Sports chairperson Dick Ebersolis, happens to be the initial investor in the company.

In an interview, Woods said, “I am excited to work with TMRW Sports in bringing people more access to sports. So many athletes, entertainers and people I meet from all walks of life share our passion for sports, but they also share our desire to build a better future for the next generation of sports fans. Together, we can harness technology to bring fresh approaches to the sports we love.”

With the approval of PGA Tour Commissioner, Jay Monahan, the venture is all set to sail. We will see some of the best golfers in the world competing against each other in a “non-green grass, stadium environment.”
Rory, while talking about events like Genesis Invitational and Memorial, said, “We need to get the top guys together more often than we do.”

Woods and Rory have come up with a great idea of giving a new definition to the game of golf. But the question is, how effective will it be? Will it be able to save the PGA tour from LIV? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, The idea of equity, which is a huge selling point to the modern golfer with an entrepreneurial mind like McIlroy and others, appears to be driving at least some of the future of the PGA Tour, whether it be these one-off competitions outside of golf courses or potential tours like LIV Golf.
