Are Bryson DeChambeau's pricey drivers worth the hype, or just another status symbol for the elite?

After winning the US Open in 2024, DeChambeau has not come down from golf’s trending list. First, he made headlines for not qualifying for the Olympics, and then he was accused by his former coach of a lack of funds. But now, the golfer has yet again made the news, and this time it’s not for salting his balls. This time, he has done something to change the whole game.

The LIV Golfer has gone beyond people’s expectations and has now created his own golf equipment designs. It’s no prank; check out what you need to know about them. LA Golf recently shared on their X handle the announcement of DeChambeau’s new creation.

They wrote in their post, “For decades, big golf brands have built a one-size-fits-all driver. Those days are over. LA Golf, in collaboration with Bryson DeChambeau, has designed the first driver ever where the face and shaft fit your swing. It’s time to let your mishits go straighter.”

LA Golf will be launching this new equipment series in 2025. However, what you have at the moment can easily show their range of expenses compared to higher-end brands. Bryson Series iron shafts, from 3-iron to 8-iron, start at only $151.

While Callaway has a wide range of irons, their most inexpensive option comes at $258. Similarly, TaylorMade’s cheapest option comes around $249 for their P∙DHY Utility Iron; however, most of their options are priced around $1299. Looking at the price point at the moment, DeChambeau’s upcoming design might make your pocket smile while catering to more customized swings. It seems that the Scientist of the golf world is applying physics to make golf better for everyone!

The Bryson Series Woodshaft, on the other hand, costs about $455.77. The same can be found in a range of $100-$999 from the Callaway brand, and at TaylorMade, it ranges somewhere between $299 and $449. Hence, the wood shaft used by DeChambeau tends to be in the mid-to-high-end price range.

What other LA Golf equipment has been tested by DeChambeau on the greens?

According to LA Golf, DeChambeau uses the most popular putter shaft on Tour, an extremely stiff shaft with low torque. Retailing at $405, this P-series shaft minimizes any deflection or bending that can be commonly found in traditional steel shafts.

Along with that, he uses a $658.78 Bel-Air X Armlock. According to the website, it promises, “The Bel-Air X Armlock features a matte forged carbon head. The all-carbon construction, a material 5x less dense than solid steel, allows for a much larger area of forgiveness for off-center hits. The Armlock plumber’s neck hosel was specifically designed with optimal angles for Armlock putting strokes.”

Priced the same at $658.78, the Malibu X that Bryson tested out in his play features a forged carbon head. It also promises that its plumber’s neck hosel was particularly designed with optimal angles for Armlock putting strokes.

With such a range of expenses that DeChambeau uses, it can be presumed that the upcoming launch will be made with some consideration of the feasibility that LA Golf usually opts for. However, it might also include some higher-end products with a more expensive price tag. Are you excited about the promised launch in 2025? Let us know in the comments below.
