In the year 2022, money has been a hot topic in the world of sports. Since the arrival of LIV Golf, their rival PGA Tour has been in a bidding war to retain the players by increasing the prize money. The Presidents Cup will take place from September 22nd to 25th in Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina, Charlotte, which also happens to be the annual venue for the Wells Fargo Championship. The
event was set to take place last year but got delayed due to the ongoing the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the delay has led to much more excitement and anticipation leading to the competition.The tournament consists of two teams: Team USA and the International Team. European players will not be a participant in the event as they get to compete in the Ryder Cup. With some of the greatest active golfers representing their countries, we take a look at how much prize money is at stake at the Quail Hollow Club.
Is there prize money for the winners of the Presidents Cup?
Unlike most golf tournaments, the Presidents Cup will not have prize money since it’s a charity event. Although the players aren’t paid for winning the tournament, there is still a lot of money involved that goes out to help the people in need.
Over the past 25 years, more than $54.4 million has been generated from event proceeds that have helped more than 460 charities in 18 countries worldwide. The Presidents Cup organizers also announced a total of $150,000 benefiting seven non-profit organizations in the Greater Charlotte area for the upcoming event.

The organizers distribute the money among the charities of their choice. However, the players also receive a six-figure amount. As part of the Presidents Cup, each player, captain, and captain’s assistant will receive $150,000. But it isn’t the usual prize money like any other tournament. Instead, the players are supposed to distribute it to the charitable cause of their choice.
Though money may not be the motivation next week for the players, it is a matter of pride of representing their country on an international scale. Moreover, with the help of a 4-day golf tournament, many needy people across the world will get the help that they require. With some of the greats competing, the golf fans are also in for a treat!
