Rory McIlroy has made the PGA Tour proud after winning the awaited title for the Dubai Desert Classic. Fans already assumed what was going to happen in the final round, and as it turned out, the golfer lifted the trophy for the DP World Tour tournament. McIlroy won the Dubai Desert Classic and fulfilled the expectations of all his staunch fans. And looking at the scoreboard, the Irish golfer made the victory look too easy. It was the third time for the world no. 1 to claim triumph at the tournament. Making par at the first eight holes in the final round, McIlroy reached 4-under (68). The golfer made two spectacular birdies, taking a three-shot lead.

Fans watched the tournament, hoping for McIlroy to make it to the win. Along with the third victory at the event, he also received a huge amount as his share of being the champion. The total purse for the tournament was $9 million. And McIlroy took home $1.53 million as his share.

Coming in second position was the golfer’s newly found rival, Patrick Reed. For those who don’t know, McIlroy and Reed were involved in a famous clash recently. As per reports, Reed went forward to say hello to the PGA Tour loyalist, while McIlroy chose to ignore him. And in reaction to the golfer’s response, Reed decided to throw a tee at him in disgust. McIlroy said he didn’t see it happening, but also indirectly warned the LIV Golf star about the repercussions he might have to face if it was the case.

Both McIlroy and Reed are extremely vocal about their views on any ongoing matter. The Northern Irish man has been against the idea of players joining LIV Golf since the beginning, while the breakaway circuit golfer has been busy defending himself among several cheating claims about him. As the runner-up, Reed made $990,000 from the tournament. And Lucas Herbert, the 2020 winner who finished third this year, pocketed $563,400 as his share!
