The 2025 season is shaping up to be exciting for LIV Golf, especially with the impressive sponsorship deals rolling in from various media groups and golf brands! The year kicked off with a media rights deal with FOX Sports, and in February, Jon Rahm‘s team, Legion XIII, landed an apparel deal with Greyson. Following that, Bryson DeChambeau‘s Crushers GC struck a fresh deal with Reebok. Now, another LIV Golf team has secured a sponsorship for the 2025 season, generating mixed responses from fans.

According to a recent update from the Saudi-backed league, Joaquin Niemann‘s team, Torque GC, has announced a sponsorship agreement with PING, the innovative golf brand renowned for pioneering club fitting. The sponsorship will officially begin this week during LIV Golf’s upcoming event in Mexico City. Torque GC fans can look forward to all team members, including Niemann, Mito Pereira, Sebastian Munoz, and Carlos Ortiz, teeing off with PING golf equipment.

PING took to X to share this exciting news for both the brand and the Torque GC team, captioning the post, “Welcome to Team PING, @TorqueGC_. #PlayYourBest.” While all four players on the team will use PING clubs, wear PING-branded headwear, and carry PING staff bags, Joaquin Niemann has a special relationship with the brand.

What’s your perspective on:

Is LIV Golf's partnership with PING a game-changer, or just another flashy move with no substance?

Have an interesting take?

Currently ranked No. 1 in the LIV Golf Individual Standings, Niemann has achieved four individual wins since joining the Saudi-backed league in 2022, including two victories in the first four events of the 2025 season. Notably, when he won the Saudi International in 2024, he became the first player to do so while using PING’s new G440 driver. Additionally, the other three team members have relied on the brand’s equipment over the years, collectively securing 25 global wins. While this sponsorship marks an achievement for the Torque GC team and the brand, fans have had varied responses to the news.

Golf fans are divided over Torque GC’s partnership with PING

Two fans couldn’t help but share their enthusiasm for the recent partnership between PING and Torque GC, with one fan saying, “Outstanding! You guys picked a great team @PingTour!! ” while the other said, Ping making a smart move.” And the fans aren’t wrong. Currently ranked 6th in the LIV Golf Standings, Joaquin Niemann’s team has accumulated 36 points thanks to their impressive gameplay this season. For instance, in the five events they played, their best performance came in Adelaide, where they finished 3rd. They continued their strong showing in subsequent events, finishing T9 in the last LIV Golf event in Miami. Additionally, the team has won four events since its formation in 2023.

One fan took a jab at LIV Golf’s ongoing struggle to generate viewership during its tournaments, saying, “What’s the point? No one watches LIV…” The league’s final round in Riyadh attracted a mere 85,000 viewers, followed by 249,000 in Adelaide, 29,000 in Hong Kong, and 34,000 in Singapore. Their best performance came from the Miami event, which garnered a solid 484,000 viewers; however, this number pales in comparison to the PGA Tour’s event held around the same time, the Valero Texas Open, which drew 1.746 million viewers.

One fan couldn’t help but take a jab at the sponsors and the team, asking, “How much did they pay Ping to join?” Ouch! This comment speaks for itself. However, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time a LIV Golf team has secured sponsorship in the 2025 season, as we saw earlier.

Lastly, a fan commented on the partnership, saying, “4 people going to the same brand is probably a bad idea.” The fan isn’t entirely wrong. Having all team members endorse the same brand could limit diverse perspectives, create an uneven dynamic, and reduce opportunities for other sponsorships. Additionally, the team’s success would heavily depend on a single brand, making them overly reliant on one partnership and putting their reputation and success at risk if the brand faces any issues. What do you think?
